Fiction From First Principles

I’m Conor Black, author of the Nate Vigil Thrillers, & the Conor Black Book on Storytelling series.

You've probably heard a writing guru say: "Your first book always sucks."

Well, the first book I ever published sold 20,000 copies (and counting)—with over 2,000 ratings and a 4.4 ★ average from my readers. To put that in context, the NYT reports that: "...about 98 percent of the books that publishers released in 2020 sold fewer than 5,000 copies."

My secret?

Not “marketing”
Not “building a platform”
And
NOT “rapid release”

It’s none of those things writers like me aren't particularly good at (and frankly, despise).

It's CONFIDENCE.

Confidence in the CRAFT of dramatic storytelling.

I’ve studied writing for over 30 years, and most importantly—paid my dues on the page.

I'd be lying if I said it was easy. But it damn-sure didn't have to take that long, either! Storytelling craft is a learnable skill.

IF you learn it the right way.

If I had the process & frameworks I share with my fellow scribes, I could've been entertaining readers and growing my backlist a long time ago.

Now that I’ve finally got some momentum in my writing career, I’m ready to give back and help my fellow scribes do the same. Allow me, if I may, to streamline the path to becoming a confident storyteller who writes books your readers will love.
